Is a one night stand a one night stand or is it more?

My husband had a one night stand with a woman he met in a bar. This was before we were married and he told me about the episode the next day. Eventually we fell in love and married. What confuses me is that to put it in his own words. They felt much for each other. He had feelings for her if not he wouldn't have slept with her. He spent a lot of time kissing and cuddling her and enjoyed it. She wasn't just a piece of meat to him. When I tell him it was a one night stand he used to get irritated with me and says all men are not the same and he doesn't fall into the same category



I am from the far East and he is from Europe. Maybe it's a misunderstanding of cultures. Please explain.
